同根词 help, helpful, helpless, helplessly 辨析

helpful 是 help + ful 构成的，其中后缀 -ful 表示 “full of”,“充满”的意思。-ful这个后缀还有个功能，就是把名词转化成形容词。所以 helpful 的意思就是“有帮助的”，是形容词。

helpless 是 help + less 构成的。其中后缀 -less 有两个作用，一是表示否定，二是将名词转化为形容词，所以 helpless的意思就是“无助的”。

helplessly 是helpless 后面再加后缀 -ly. 这个后缀，通常是用来把形容词转化成副词的。所以 helplessly 就是副词“无助地”。
