同根词 appear, disappear, appearance 解析

先来看下面的例句：

1. She will appear in the meeting tomorrow.  她会在明天的会议中出现。
2. Mike didn't appear to celebrate his brother's birthday. 迈克没有现身庆祝他兄弟的生日。
3. Your name will appear at the front of the book. 你的名字会出现在书的前页。

上面 3 个例句中的 appear 都是“出现”的意思，做动词用。

disappear 是由 dis + appear 构成的，其中前缀 dis- 的作用是表达相反的意思，所以 disappear 就是“消失”的意思，在句子中也做动词使用。例如：

1. The bus disappeared slowly. 那辆公交车慢慢消失了。
2. They hope the problem will disappear itself. 他们希望问题会自己消失。
3. The newspapers will disappear. 报纸将会消失。

上面 3 个句子中的 disappear 都是“消失”的意思，作动词用。

appearance 是由 appear + ance 构成的，其中后缀 -ance 通常用来将其它的词类转换成名词。appearance 就是“外表、外面、露面”的意思。请看下面几个句子：

1. His appearance in the meeting was a big surprise. 他在会议上现身令人大为惊奇。
2. Many young people care too much about their appearance. 很多年轻人太关注自己的外貌了。
3. My appearance looked foreign.  我的外表看起来像外国人。

可以看出上面 3 个句子中的 appearance 都是用作名词。第 1 个句子中的 appearance 是“出现，现身”的意思，第2、第3个句子中的 appearance 都是“外表”的意思。
